Privacy Notice
The Old Albanian Association holds the personal information of Old Albanians, families, and friends of St Albans School only so far as is necessary to keep the alumni community connected, and treats it with the care that a fellowship founded in 1892 has always owed its members.
Placeholder notice — this text awaits review and sign-off by the Committee and the Association's legal advisers before publication. It is not yet a binding statement.
Who we are
The Old Albanian Association (“the Association”, “we”, “us”) is the alumni association of St Albans School, based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. We are the data controller for the information described in this notice. Questions about your information should be sent to the Honorary Secretary at [email protected].
What we collect
When you write to us through the enquiry form or by email, we collect the name, email address, and message you choose to provide. We do not gather information about you from third parties, and we do not buy or sell personal data.
How and why we use it — our lawful basis
Information you submit through the enquiry form is used only to respond to your enquiry, consistent with the notice shown beside the form itself. We rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining the alumni community and replying to correspondence, and, where you have asked to receive Association news or event invitations, on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
We retain enquiry correspondence only for as long as is needed to deal with the matter raised and to keep a reasonable record of our dealings with members, after which it is deleted or archived.
Who we share it with
We do not share your personal information with anyone outside the Association except where the law requires it, or where a trusted service provider acts strictly on our instructions to help us operate (for example, email delivery). The School and the wider OA ecosystem are separate organisations with their own privacy notices.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, please write to the Honorary Secretary. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
